Fairtrade Fortnight 2025

New research from the Fairtrade Foundation has been released to mark the start of Fairtrade Fortnight 2025, the data reveals growing public demand for fairness and transparency in the tea industry, and a warning that the people behind Britain’s national drink remain at risk.

Brits love tea! In fact we drink on average 2.7 cups of tea a day, with an estimated 100 million cups of tea consumed every day in the UK.

Despite tea’s iconic role in British culture, just 1 in 5 tea growers in Kenya earn enough to cover basic needs such as food, housing and education.

Aston spoke to Sarah Brazier, head of campaigns at Fairtrade.
