Ortis Deley unpacks Britain’s digital firsts over three decades

Over the last three decades the nation’s online habits have changed dramatically.

From the screech of dial-up modems to the endless scroll of TikTok, Gadget Show Presenter and tech enthusiast Ortis Deley is taking a look back at our earliest memories of being online.

For millions of Brits, the journey began with setting up a clunky Hotmail or Yahoo account, logging on through the family desktop, or hearing that unforgettable dial-up tone before MSN Messenger came alive with chat windows.

Older Brits are far more likely to recall setting up emails, browsing MSN, or logging on from libraries and cyber cafés, according to the research by Zen Internet, while younger generations reminisce about YouTube, Instagram and even their first viral TikTok.

Aston spoke to TV presenter (Gadget Show) Ortis Deley.
