New report: Tinnitus UK warn of hearing damage at dangerously loud live music events

Live music is central to UK culture, but new research from Tinnitus UK shows unsafe sound levels are causing widespread, preventable hearing damage for those attending and working in the UK live music sector.

A new report from Tinnitus UK highlights the scale of the issue. One in seven adults in the UK have tinnitus, with 1.5 million living with severe symptoms and nearly eight million people were expected to be affected by tinnitus by the end of 2025.

Live music is a key reason why a lot of people are affected by Tinnitus. Sound levels above 85 decibels can cause permanent damage, and many concerts exceed 100 decibels.

Aston spoke to Danny Knight, research lead and partnerships manager at Tinnitus UK.
