Are singletons suffering from a dating app burnout?

Singles are spending 156 hours a year on dating apps, but making just seven connections beyond the initial match, highlighting how difficult it has become to turn online interactions into something more meaningful.

New research from Knorr shows this frustration is widespread. Among those surveyed, 73% say it is difficult to know if someone is genuinely looking for a relationship, while 68% say they struggle to find someone whose priorities match their own, suggesting growing uncertainty around compatibility and intent.

It comes at a time when official ONS figures show marriage rates have fallen by over 50% since the 1970s, while separate data shows around one in four young adults report feeling lonely often or always, pointing to a wider shift in how people meet and connect.
