Tom Read Wilson on faking a fancy life
We’re all guilty of faking our fancier side, especially when presenting ourselves on social media. But for many of us, the performance isn’t just on-screen, as new research reveals that almost a third of UK adults (31%) pretend to be fancier than they really are!
The new research by Imperial Leather shows that those in relationships (41%) are more likely to want to appear fancier than they are, in comparison to those who are single (33%).
The findings also reveal all the white lies that Brits commonly tell about their lifestyle – such as pretending that they’re wearing real gold or silver (34%), exaggerating how much they earn (26%), lying about where they do their food shops (16%) and claiming to live in a more affluent postcode (16%) – all to convince others that they live a fancier life.
