Experts reveal Britain’s top solar hotspots

British households are increasingly anxious about the impact of global conflict on their energy bills, with new research showing 91% of adults are concerned that geopolitical instability will drive electricity prices higher in the months ahead. With tensions in the Middle East once again disrupting global energy markets, many families are reassessing how they power their homes.

The findings from Good Energy suggest the UK may be entering a “Solar Street Effect” – a growing trend where one household’s decision to install solar panels sparks a wave of similar upgrades along the same road. Four in ten (39%) say they are more likely to consider home improvements such as solar panels, extensions or renovations if their neighbours have already taken the plunge. For solar specifically, 21% admit they would be encouraged to install panels because others nearby have done so.

While only 15% surveyed currently have solar panels, interest is rising sharply. 51% say recent geopolitical instability has increased their desire to install solar, with long‑term bill savings (46%) and greater energy independence (32%) cited as the biggest motivators.
