New report reveals Britain’s “community gap”
Britain is craving stronger community connection, but many feel they are missing opportunities to get involved locally.
New research from the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) reveals one in six people across the UK want more opportunities to engage with their local community, with demand rising even higher in urban areas including Birmingham Ladywood, Manchester Rusholme and Liverpool Riverside.
The findings come as community engagement across the UK remains relatively low. Just 37% of people say they engaged with their local community over the past year, while only around half (52%) feel a sense of pride in their local area.
Aston spoke to Phillippa Cornish, head of giving at Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).
