National Numeracy Day – Bobby Seagull on the hidden numeracy crisis

A league table of the nation’s best and worst areas for numeracy in the UK will reveal numeracy inequalities in towns and cities across the nation – exposing a hidden crisis in our communities. 

From understanding payslips and mortgages to budgeting, bills, percentages and household finances, poor maths skills are holding back adults in their everyday lives. 

The findings, which come from the new UK Numeracy Index*, the first nationwide ranking of numeracy confidence and skills across every parliamentary constituency and ward, have prompted TV’s favourite maths teacher Bobby Seagull to want to take action.

Bobby’s mission is to get adults across the UK to take part in the National Numeracy Challenge, designed to help people improve confidence with numbers in daily life.
