Kate Hardcastle MBE on trusting tax
Britons are spending an estimated £149 extra each year because they do not feel confident buying cheaper second-hand and refurbished products online, according to new research from eBay.
The findings suggest that concerns around scams, counterfeit goods and unreliable sellers are preventing many consumers from taking advantage of lower-cost alternatives at a time when household finances remain under pressure.
While interest in buying pre-loved products continues to grow, many shoppers admit trust remains a major barrier. Almost one in five people say they are more interested in buying second-hand fashion online than they were five years ago, while demand is also rising for used technology, household goods, vintage products and refurbished electronics.
