Love Island star Farmer Will on Britain’s 3.06pm snack crash
Brits are a nation of snackers – but our go-to choices could be doing more harm than good, with millions left battling an afternoon energy slump after reaching for unhealthy snacks.
New research of 2,000 adults reveals that eight in 10 (81%) Brits indulge in sugary, salty or high processed treats every week, like biscuits, crisps or chocolate. As a result, they are left feeling sluggish, bloated, thirsty and fatigued.
However, 91% who noticed the effects of unhealthy snacking, felt an energy crash afterwards, with 25% experiencing a mid-afternoon slump between 2pm and 4pm, and the national average ‘crash time’ being 3.06pm.
The research by European Mushrooms, highlights simple, nutritious swaps such as mushrooms that can be easily worked into everyday routines, from quick breakfasts to on-the-go bites or afternoon pick-me-ups.
