Kai Widdrington – Evolution Show review

20th July 2026

I had the privillage to attend the show Kai Widdrington – Evolution Show at the Towngate Theatre in Basildon on 17th July with a friend which starred Strictly’s Kai Widdrington.

The show was filled with dances and also Kai spoke about his own life which ranged from his childhood, his appearance on Britain’s Got Talent up to where he is today on our TV screens dancing the night away on a Saturday night with a celebrity on Strictly Come Dancing.

I have to say that the show itself featured amazing dancing from Kai and all of his dancers including his friend Luke and they fit the narrative of how Kai spoke about his life a different points as well from the highs and the lows. At the very end with some audience participation was a very nice touch to get the audience up on their feet especially to a very catchy tune as well.

The lighting was a joy and also very much on point as to each routine and even to the fact of highligting different dancers at the right moment of each routine, this includes spotlight, strobe effects etc.

The costumes were extremely on point and cleverly designed to fit each rountine especially to the story of the whole show. The fun part of course had to be a penalty shootout which was a great way to entertain the audience in attendance including myself.

How Kai explained his own life from his childhood to where he is now is beyond amazing as there were bits that I and the audience didn’t know about like how he could’ve taken up football, his run on Britain’s Got Talent and also how to be on Strictly today like doing numerous competitions as a child right up to adulthood.

Glad to hear that he is coming back to Basildon’s Towngate in 2027 and I would say to anyone who hasn’t seen Kai perform in his show, it’s worth going to see! I will try and get back to see him in the near future as I very much enjoyed it!

I will finish with these words about how I feel about the show… Fab-u-lous!!
