Too many men only prioritise their health after life delivers a wake-up call
Millions of working-age men across the UK are ignoring worrying health symptoms, with many admitting they put the wellbeing of loved ones ahead of their own.
New research among 2,000 working men aged 30-55 reveals a widespread pattern of men delaying, downplaying or deprioritising health concerns, often until a serious personal moment forces them to reassess.
The findings, by not-for-profit healthcare provider Benenden Health, show more than two thirds (69%) of men have ignored symptoms or health concerns they were worried about, while more than a quarter (27%) admit they have done so on multiple occasions.
Aston spoke to Dr Cheryl Lythgoe, nurse consultant at Benenden Health.
