I only noticed after the event that last Monday’s live show was my 400th since starting on our FM broadcasts back on 27th September 2010, a tad over eight years to the day ! Wow ! My carefully filed lists of songs played tell me I’ve played an awful lot of tunes on air in that time, not just soul, jazz-funk & disco – the main areas I cover – but also Northern Soul, Reggae, House & Rap (not much of those two ! lol) , R’n’B (both kinds!), Blue Eyed Soul and even Salsa across various features and one-off ideas. I do like to put in as great a variety within the general “soul” genre as I can and each week there is usually at least one track from the 60s 90s & 00s along with plenty from my favoured decades of the 70s & 80s.
