COVID-19 shifts Brits reserved and ‘stiff upper lip’ attitudes

As a second spike of COVID-19 sweeps the nation and death rate begins to creep up, funeral planning is at the fore-front of the nation’s mind. Nearly half of those considering a funeral planning product agree that Covid-19 has encouraged them to talk to family about their funeral plans. However, only a quarter feel that the pandemic has influenced the type of funeral they want.

Consideration of funeral plans is up 178% on this time last year. This is most prevalent in the 55-64’s, with almost two thirds (63%) of those considering a funeral plan, in this age group. Not only are more Brits considering investing in a funeral plan, but the time we are taking to finalise our decision is decreasing. The average enquiry to sale lead time in August decreased by 39%, with enquiries converting to sale in under 7 days (compared to 11 days last year).

Aston spoke to Malcolm Flanders from Golden Charter to discuss about how we can give ourselves and our loved ones an added sense of certainty and security.
