Neil Gits Stockpiling

Like any normal sane person I have been completely baffled by the “Toilet Roll Fiascos” this year – I just CANNOT get my head around what that has been all about ! In the Spring when panic first gripped the Nation, I had just started a new pack of four from Asda and living on my own they lasted a good while, so that when they did run out, (some!) sanity had returned to the stores and a replacement pack was readily available on the shelves. No problem …

Of course, life has changed numerous times since then, and last week I found myself in desperate need of a new toothbrush (I’ve done a LOT of eating this year and the poor old one has taken a hammering !!) but I couldn’t just pop in Boots and buy a new pack of two, so … deep breath … I went online. So far so good – until I realized I would have to pay about three times the cost of the toothbrush pack in P & P ! Well, I wasn’t going to do that, so I made a list of all the items that I would normally buy only in Boots across the course of a year that would not go out of date and ordered enough to take me past the £30 Free Delivery threshold !!

Lo and behold , a big cardboard box arrived on Thursday this week (my old brush just about lasted another 7 days !) packed with numerous bars of soap, cans of deodorant, packets of wet wipes and bags of razors, along with … EIGHT new toothbrushes – job done ! Although I think all my teeth will have dropped out before I actually use up all of those …

And with a lovely clean mouth each week (oh yes, I also slipped a couple of bottles of mouthwash in the order too!) I can now confidently continue to waffle away at my leisure as I present two hours of top quality soul, jazz-funk & disco goodness, enthusiastically spurting out fascinating facts and useful information about the tunes in amongst all the fab features ! The next “live” show will be on Monday at 7pm as usual, but if you want to hear what the last show brought to you my battered old friend sounded like, you can hear it on “Repeat Play” at 5pm this evening (Saturday) or visit “Listen Again” here right now …
