Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt on judging people by their home interior

How many times have you walked into someone’s house, didn’t like the look of what you saw, didn’t say anything about it and just went off them a little bit? If you did, then you’re not alone. New research has revealed that we’re quick to judge friends, family and new partners on the way they’ve decorated their home, but we stay quiet about it. Nearly half (39%) said they thought differently about someone after seeing the inside of their home, and 80% said they stayed quiet about another person’s attempts at interior decoration, even though they didn’t like it. Furthermore, 61% said they had been to someone’s home and not liked it at all.

The study – which was commissioned by Superfresco Easy – also found that a fifth of Brits would lie to a new partner and tell them they liked their home’s interior, when they really didn’t. 35% said they would even cancel a date with someone if they thought their interior décor was awful.
