Former cabinet minister Dame Tessa Jowell has died at the age of 70, her family has announced.

The ex-Labour culture secretary, who had been diagnosed with a brain tumour in May last year, suffered a haemorrhage on Friday.

She had been in a coma until her death on Saturday.

Dame Tessa was a popular figure in Parliament who played a major role in securing the 2012 Olympics for London when she led the culture department.
she was also responsible for access radio turning into the roll out of Community radio, where stations like Gateway 97.8 would not exist today without the access trials and the determination of people like Tessa,
