97th Academy Awards

The 97th Academy Awards took place at Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles on 2nd March hosted by chat show legend Conan O’Brien.

The Academy Awards honour films that were released from the previous years ceremony right up to the current one. It saw Anora win in 5 categories as director, producer, editor and writer Sean Baker made history by winning in all 4 categories he was nominated in (Best Picture, Director, Original Screenplay and Editing) whilst the film’s lead actress Mikey Madison took home an academy award for her role in the film.

Other winners include The Brutalist which won in 3 categories (Lead Actor for Adrien Brody, Cinematography and Original Score). Emilia Perez (Supporting Actress for Zoe Saldana and Original Song), Dune: Part Two (Sound and Visual Effects) and Wicked (Production Design and Costume) took 2 awards. Supporting Actor went to Kieran Culkin for his role in the film A Real Pain.
