Working mothers are said to be up to 40% more stressed than the rest of the population and research has revealed that a lack of sleep and childcare issues are among the top stresses for mums. Messy houses also made the rankings with 60% of parents admitting that it causes them stress, closely followed by a lack of sleep (55%) and finally finding appropriate childcare (30%).

Mothers are also often victim to the notorious ‘mum guilt’ which is defined by feelings of guilt, doubt anxiousness or uncertainty when they worry, they’re failing or falling short or expectation in some way. According to a survey, 78% of mums also admitted to experiencing ‘mum guilt’, 68% of them saying they experience this once or twice a day.

Aston spoke to Abi Selby, expert in stress management and founder of Spabreaks.com to discuss the research in further detail.
