Amazon creates 1,500 new apprenticeship roles in 2022

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, today Amazon has announced that it grew its permanent UK workforce
by 25,000 in 2021, and that it will create 1,500 new apprenticeships in the UK 2022.

The expansion of the apprenticeship programme includes over 200 degree-level apprenticeships, reflecting
Amazon’s diverse workforce and the communities the company serves. Recruitment for the 1,500 roles has now
started for more than 40 different schemes, from engineering to health, safety and environment technicians.

New apprenticeship schemes for 2022 include publishing, retailing, marketing, and a programme focused on
environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG), giving apprentices the opportunity to gain real-world
sustainability experience.

Aston spoke to Nicola Drury, head of apprenticeships at Amazon UK and John Aitkin, Amazon Fullfilment Centre worker at Amazon.
