Are we battling nutrition confusion?
On the day that the latest obesity figures for England are released, new data shows that a fifth (21%) of Brits still don’t know what counts towards their 5 A Day, and a third (36%) admit they’re unsure what nutrients their diet is missing.
The combination of excessive caloric intake, low micronutrient levels, inadequate fibre, fruit and vegetable consumption, deficiency in omega-3 fatty acids from oily fish, as well as high salt and sugar intake collectively amplify the chronic health crisis in the UK.
With more dietary trends and conflicting advice than ever before, new research from Whitworths reveals that while 73% of Brits feel confident in creating a balanced diet, a significant portion are still struggling to understand what that really looks like — especially in the age of smart watches, meal prep apps, and calorie counting tools.
