Are we keeping tabs on our valuable assets?
A new survey of more than 2,000 people has revealed how much time Brits spend looking for misplaced items at work, and a growing appetite to be able to track valuables.
The data suggests that 1 in 5 (20%) workers search for lost items several times a day. This figure rises to more than a third (35%) when including those who are on the hunt at least once during their shift. Interestingly, it’s the younger generation who seem to misplace things the most – with more than half (51%) rooting around the office once or more each day.
Asset management experts, ABAX – who commissioned the research – estimate that a combined total of 912 million hours are lost by the UK workforce searching for misplaced items every year. That equates to an estimated cost of millions of pounds annually. This doesn’t take into consideration the cost of valuable assets and equipment that are never actually recovered.
Aston spoke to Craig Allen, technology tracking expert at ABAX.
