Are you embracing moderate drinking this Christmas?

As Christmas festivities get underway, new research reveals an encouraging shift in drinking habits. Almost three in four drinkers (73%) plan to moderate their alcohol intake over the festive period, as mindful consumption becomes a mainstream choice across the UK.

With Brits taking a more balanced approach to festive fun this year, many are already planning how they will cut back on alcohol. The most common techniques drinkers intend to use include taking drink-free days during the week (21%), setting a personal drinking limit, such as one glass or bottle (19%), and alternating alcoholic beverages with soft drinks or water (18%).

Although most people plan to take a measured approach to drinking, the research from Drinkaware also revealed one differing trend: over a quarter (28%) say they’re likely to drink more over the festive period because they plan to cut back in the New Year.

Aston spoke to Karen Tyrell, CEO of Drinkaware.
