Autism show – August 2022

On All Things Autism in Essex for the month, Aston Avery and regular contributor Anna Kennedy OBE were joined by the kids of Radio Club who asked Anna some questions about her charity and also her campaign work.

Aston and Anna spoke about some of the campaigns to raise awareness for autism.

Aston and Anna spoke to Amanda Buckley from Merlin’s Magic Wands.

Aston and Anna recapped the show and spoke about a fundraiser that is happening.

“It was great to be back in the Gateway Studio this month with Aston talking ‘All things Autism in Essex’ 
The first half of the show I was being interviewed by the Kids Gateway Club about the work of the charity. What a lovely group of young people.

Our guests this week were Warren Clark founder of Golfing Dreams registered charity and Amanda Buckley from Merlin’s Magic Wand Charity.

Warren, whom the charity is named after, is a young man with Autism and learning disabilities. Warren is passionate about golf and represented team GB at the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019. I was proud to be asked to be their charity Patron after I visited the golf centre a few weeks ago.

Warren is a qualified S.N.A.G Golf coach and loves to share his passion with others. Introducing golf to a wide range of disadvantaged people is what Warren dreams to do and does.

In the summer of 2019 Warren Clark Golfing Dreams attended over thirty-five local events and introduced golf to over 6,000 people.

Whilst spending quality time with their own family members and friends, people from all walks of life come together in our sessions, meet new people, work as a team, and learn to communicate with others. People with physical and learning disabilities, and differences of faith and culture interact in our community sessions where we teach golf, teamwork, and social tolerance.

Our second guest was Amanda Buckley who I met a month ago and has started her role in Marketing since 2021. Merlin’s Magic Wand is the official international children’s charity of Merlin Entertaintainments, dedicated to providing magical experiences for children and families who need them most. Working globally across 140 attractions, the charity works to deliver magical moments in three key formats:

Magical Days out, Magic on Tour and Magical Spaces. More information can be found on their website which is constantly evolving.www.merlinsmagicwand.org
