Autism Show – June 2025

Aston was joined by regular contributor Anna Kennedy OBE from autism charity Annakennedyonline to chat All Things Autism in Essex and they spoke to exciting guests and highlight news within the autism community.

The first of Aston and Anna’s guests was Collette Sherriffs.

The second of Aston and Anna’s guests was Mandy Aulak from Talem Law and Sean Kennedy.

The third of Aston and Anna’s guests was Tally Nothey.

Anna had this to say after the show:

“Another busy ‘All things Autism in Essex’ Show for Aston and I.

We spoke about our first Charity ‘Autism and Art Show’ which was totally amazing and our guests , friends and families were blown away by the creativity of our artists.

It’s the last couple of days this week to view the wonderful artwork at the Firepit Gallery a few mins walk from the Nth Greenwich tube station. If you have some spare time our charity Patron Steven Smith and I will be at the Gallery from 5pm until 7pm today (friday). Come join us for a glass of wine or a soft drink.

Our guests today were Collette Sheriff,  Mandy Aulak and Sean Kennedy from Talem Law and Tally Nothey .

Our first guest talking ‘All things autism in Essex ‘was the lovely Collette Sherriffs. I first spoke to Collette in 2020 when she asked for advice about her daughter Natalie.

Collette has kindly contributed to out ‘Autism and Art Exhibition’ this year at the Firepit Gallery.

Collette is from Scotland, and has been passionate about art since childhood. She worked hard to earn her grades needed to attend art school, however her mother discouraged her, saying she was too stupid to succeed. Heartbroken, Collette gave up her dream and never picked up a pencil or paintbrush again. The piece that is on display is one of the works created for her portfolio- a piece her mother threw away, though thankfully saved.

Please listen to Collettes interview with Aston and I. She is such a lovely lady.

Our second guests on ‘All things Autism in Essex were Sean Kennedy and Mandy Aulak from Talem Law. It is an innovative law firm specialising in all aspects of Employment Law , Special Educational Needs and Disability Discrimination.

Both Sean and Mandy spoke about Disability Discrimination in Schools and reasonable adjustments. They both also gave their thoughts on Ehcp’s which is a current hot topic across the media.

Our final guest was Tally Nothey  long time volunteer , charity supporter and a good friend to AnnaKennedyonline.

Last weekend I was invited to attend and support Tally and Freedom 2 Thrive launch in London, a project I have known about when Tally Nothey and I have spoken about the worry about our sons and their future when we are no longer around.

This is the question at the back of many parents’ minds whose children and adults are autistic or have a disability and significant needs.

Tally and her colleagues have created @f2t_2025 who are on a mission to create inclusive spaces where adults with disabilities are not just supported they are empowered , celebrated,  and given the freedom to thrive.

Please check out the website for further information.

Next month Aston and I will share the performers chosen to perform on our 14th year of Autism’s got Talent at The Mermaid Theatre on October 11th. Tickets are on sale via our charity website www.annakennedyonline.com

Take care everyone and see you in July.

Anna”
