Autism Show – October 2024

The latest edition of All Things Autism in Essex saw Aston and regular contributor Anna Kennedy OBE, foudner of autism charity Annakennedyonline reflect on this year’s Autism Got Talent and also looked at other news within the autism community.

The first of Aston and Anna’s guest was Autism’s Got Talent performer Lianne Vessier.

The second of Aston and Anna’s guest was Autism’s Got Talent performer Ty Williams.

Anna had this to say after the show:

“Another busy show talking ‘All things Autism in Essex ‘ with Aston for the month of October.

We chatted how wonderful our Autism’s got Talent performers were this year. Aston talked about his experience for the first time joining Philip Barnett as one of our compere’s.

Aston first joined the show in 2015 as one of our performers.

We invited two of this year’s performer’s to talk about their experience and their love of singing.

Our guests were Lianne Vessier and Ty Williams.”

Ty Williams

  • Diagnosed from an early age with Autism & learning difficulties Ty’s struggles were evident. Needing constant support, speech & language and OT , SEN school placement was the only option. Little did anyone know that it was here , at the age of 10, in the school choir that Ty’s gift would be discovered.
  • At the age of 14 Ty got his first solo at a Christmas concert in school and since then he hasn’t looked back. It hasn’t been an easy journey, with many people choosing to only see his disability over his ability, but this hasn’t stopped him.

Lianne Vessier

  • Lianne is a mum of 2 children, age 21 and 17, she has been with her husband for 23 years, and was only diagnosed at 39!
  • Lianne grew up and still lives in Somerset.
  • Lianne has been singing since age 9, but after children never had the confidence. She found burlesque, started putting on her own shows, and working with fabulous people, she finally got on the stage again.
  • In recent years she has worked in motorsports, in social media but due to her health she is now unemployed.
  • Lianne has fibromyalgia, Ehlers danlos and functional neurological disorder, she is often in a wheelchair when really bad.

“Auditions have now opened for our 14th year of Autism’s got Talent 2025. Show us your Talent!

Aston and I also gave our verdict from last week’s BBC Strictly show because of our love of dance. Our favourite is Chris and Dianne. We are amazed at his dance skills and what a fantastic teacher Dianne Buswell is and a great partnership. We are looking forward to Halloween week.

I shared tips for families of Autistic Children on how to approach Trick or Treat and dressing up.

Please listen to the highlights of our show and enjoy your Halloween

Sending positive vibes and love x

Anna”

All Things Autism in Essex will return soon.
