Bake Off winner Candice Brown celebrates National Dog Adoption Day

Thousands of cats and dogs will be unnecessarily stuck in kennels this National Dog Adoption Day (25^th October) due to misconceptions about pet adoption.

A new study of 2,000 adults reveals the main worries around adopting a pet, with 41 per cent of people having doubts about adopting a pet for the first time.

Top concerns include pet behavioural issues (54 per cent), uncertainty around medical history (40 per cent) and the misconception that adopted pets are older animals (15 per cent).
