The battle to win the glitterball trophy in Strictly Come Dancing for 2025 has officially got under way as all 15 couples took the floor for the first time to be scored by the judges. There were some who have shown that they have potential to do really well this year. Now sadly before this past weekend, 2019 Love Island winner Dani Dyer had to withdraw from the series due to an injury sustained in rehearsals and was replaced by 2017 Love Island winner & stage actress Amber Davies.

Topping the judges leaderboard in week 1 of Strictly Come Dancing 2025 was former lioness footballer Karen Carney and her dance partner Carlos Gu scoring 31 out of 40 for their jive, whilst scoring the lowest marks in week 1 was entertainment reporter Ross King and his dance partner Jowita Przystal scoring 10 out of 40 for their Cha Cha Cha. The judges scores will carry over to this coming weekend.

No couple was eliminated in week 1 as is tradition to the format, however the first couple will be eliminated this coming weekend with a new twist to the dance off format which is that each week a judge at random will be given the power to have the casting vote in an event of a tie (2 -1 being a tie break situation).
