BBFC reveal new guidelines

The British Board of Film Classification, or BBFC for short, have today launched their new Classification
Guidelines. The BBFC provides age ratings and content advice for films and series at the cinema, on
DVD and Blu-ray and on streaming services.

Every five years, these guidelines are updated to reflect the expectations and values of people across
the UK. In 2023, the BBFC undertook the task of speaking with 12,000 people — more than ever before
— to explore what matters to audiences.
