Brits declined a wedding invite because they simply couldn’t afford it

Brand new research from the UK’s number one wedding planning app Bridebook has revealed how Brits really feel about modern weddings – from rising costs and child-free ceremonies to social media rules and wedding guest personalities. Nearly one in five Brits (17%) even say they have never attended or been involved in a wedding.

More than two in five (42%) say the most they have ever spent on a wedding was £499 or less.

  • Over a third (36%) of 25–34-year-olds say they have spent more than £1,000 attending a wedding,
compared to just 12% of over-55s.
  • Londoners are among the UK’s biggest wedding spenders, with one in four (24%) saying they have
spent £2,500 or more on a wedding.
  • People in the Southeast are the most budget-conscious regionally, with over half (51%) saying they
have never spent more than £499.
