Brits in the dark on safe disposal practices

We’re ringing the alarm bells: comprehensive data shows a frightening 50% of us are utterly unaware of the safe and correct way to extinguish and discard instant barbecues, revealing a dire need to reform our practices before they result in devastating wildfires.

This stark statistic has emerged from Bar-Be-Quick’s recent study. Alarmingly, 29% of Brits (almost one in three) leave their used barbecues to cool down by themselves. Worse yet, 14% cover their barbecues with sand, a heat insulator. As many as 7% brazenly toss their used barbecue into the bin, while only 16% of respondents identified the correct way to extinguish a disposable barbecue – soaking it thoroughly in water.

In terms of recycling, the situation isn’t much better. Approximately one-third (31%) claim to disassemble and recycle as per instructions. However, another 30% confess to simply throwing the whole unit into the bin. And alarmingly, 17% – nearly one in five – aren’t even aware that instant barbecues can be recycled.
