BTCC News Update (27th July)

On Monday 27th, I presented a motorsport update which focused on all the latest news from the world of British motor racing scene from F1 and on the BTCC. Below is all the latest BTCC news from this week’s motorsport news update.

The 2020 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship will commence on Saturday 2nd August with R1, R2 and R3 taking place at Donnignton Park in Leicestershire. The first three races were meant to take place in August at Brands Hatch Indy however that was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The season will now commence this weekend at Donnington Park and the race well be held behind closed doors in accordance with the UK Government’s Covid-19 guidance. There have also been a couple of driver changes as well.

In some other news developments:

  1. RCIB Insurance with Team Hard have confirmed that scholarship winner Ollie Brown will race for the 2020 season following Mike Bushell’s withdrawal from the 2020 campaign. He’ll partner Jack Goff at the team and will drive the Volkswagen CC for 2020.
  2. In a late driver switch, Carlube Triple R Racing have confirmed that Jack Butel will replace Daniel Rowbottom at the team for the 2020 season. The Jersey based GT racer will partner Adam Morgan at Car Blue Triple R Racing and both drivers will be racing in a Mercedes A Class for the 2020 season.
  3. The Huyndai I30 Fastback N will be making it’s debut at Donnignton Park with Excelr8 Motorsport for the 2020 BTCC season and Laser Tools Racing confirm a car switch. The Infiniti Q50 will replace the Mercedes A Class and the team retains current driver, Aiden Moffat with 2017 champion Ash Sutton joining the team from Team BMR after Subaru decided to quit the BTCC at the end of the 2019 season.
