Camping makes you happy

The Camping and Caravanning club along with experts at Liverpool John Moores University and Sheffield Hallam University have conducted a major study of 11,000 campers and non-campers.

Their conclusion is that camping in the great outdoors improves people’s well-being and mental health. It’s official camping really does make you happy!

The ‘Outjoyment Report’ assessed attitudes towards the benefits of all types of camping such as pitching up in a tent, caravan or motorhome, or going glamping. It found just being on the doorstep of the countryside can give a big positive boost. The research found campers and caravanners are happy, flourishing, less stressed and enjoy better wellbeing than non-campers.

Aston spoke to co authors of the ‘Outjoyment Report’ Dr Kaye Richards from John Moores Liverpool University and Simon McGrath from the Camping and Caravaning Club.
