Chef Briony May Williams on ice cream flavours

Ice cream is the nation’s number one dessert after a break-up! Research from Cuisinart found that nearly half of people (44%) say they’d choose ice cream as their ultimate comfort food, beating out favourites like brownies, biscuits, and doughnuts. In fact, 1 in 2 people say ice cream is their go-to dessert side.

Ice cream evokes childhood nostalgia for many – the sound of the ice cream van reminds 86% of people of summer holidays as a child. Banana split is the nation’s favourite childhood ice cream flavour, 1 in 4 (26%) loved it as a kid – 1 in 5 (20%) loved strawberry shortcake and 16% said bubble-gum swirl was their favourite childhood ice cream flavour.

Nearly 4 in 5 people (77%) agree that they would like to try making ice cream at home this summer.
