Climate concious litter pickers rewarded for their rubbish finds

Cleaning up Britain’s streets is a dirty job but thanks to new app, LitterLotto, litter-picking local heroes can now be in with the chance of winning £10,000 for binning a single piece of rubbish.

In a bid to exterminate the litter bugs of the nation the free mobile app, which was launched in the UK last month, rewards people for proactively lending a gloved hand in disposing of the two million pieces of waste dropped daily, across the country.

The app was first trialled in Denmark in August 2021, where it received overwhelming support with almost 85 per cent of all the litter binned being picked up from the ground.

All litter entered in the app counts, from a single cigarette stub, to a takeaway meal box or drinks can. Users simply download the free app and take a picture of the rubbish as they dispose of it in the bin with every entry acting as a new opportunity to bag the jackpot or additional spot prizes.
