Could holiday scams hit holiday bookers this Jan pay day?

January payday finally arrives this week for tens of millions of Brits, but there is a warning to consumers who’ve been waiting to get paid before booking this year’s dream getaway.

With new research revealing that over a quarter of adult consumers say they have received emails, texts or messages offering a holiday deal that they suspected was a scam, the UK’s aviation regulator, the Civil Aviation Authority, is warning those looking to book a getaway bargain to beware of holiday deals that are ‘too good to be true.’

January is the busiest month of the year for holiday bookings, and with TV, Radio and online adverts offering a dazzling array of holiday deals, a record £4.5bn of package holidays* are expected to be booked by the end of the month. Last year 294 million passengers jetted off from UK airports, a rise of 8% on the previous year, with numbers forecast to be even higher this year.
