With summer just over a month away, it’s the perfect time to start making a change to our homes. While some of us are happy to roll up our sleeves and get stuck in to a DIY task, more complicated jobs and bigger building projects are best left to the professionals. But with so much demand for builders there are an increasing number of rogue traders operating in the market, with some pretending to be members of trade associations when they aren’t.

How can we take the risk out of making an improvement to our homes?

Aston spoke to Richard Beresford, chief executive and Rico Wojtulewicz, head of housing and planning policy from the National Federation of Builders to chat about the research and also as to why cowboy builders are estimated to cost the UK economy £10 billion a year from poor work.
