Data shows quarter of young people have missed work or education due to a lack of food

New research by the youth homelessness charity Centrepoint shows food insecurity is having a devastating impact on young people across the UK.

Almost half (49%) of 16-25 year olds have been forced to go to bed hungry in the last twelve months and the majority (54%) have struggled to buy food.

Many young people are struggling so much that they’re sacrificing meals to pay other essentials costs.

Centrepoint commissioned Opinium to carry out a UK national poll to determine the level of food insecurity among the general population of 16 to 25 year olds.

Aston spoke to Heather Paterson, senior dietitian at Centrepoint.
