The National Cat Awards are back, and today marks the announcement of the 15 finalists in the running to become Cats Protection’s National Cat of the Year at the UK’s annual celebration of heroism, survival and companionship in the cat world.

From fearless felines that saved the day to miraculous moggies who provide a lifeline for their owners, this year’s entrants have gone the extra mile to prove their worthiness. This year’s top cat will follow in the pawprints of previous winner Theo, who helped his owner Charlotte Dixon survive a potentially fatal blood clot.

Aston spoke to England football legend David Seaman and his wife former dancing on ice professional skater Frankie telling us what they’re looking for in this year’s winners.
