Dieters in secret weight loss turmoil

A new survey out today from Slimming World reveals more than half (57%) of dieters have tried to lose weight ‘in secret’ – many because of fears of being judged or failing.

One in three are worried about being judged (31%), almost a quarter don’t know what else to do (24%), and 32% are embarrassed about having to lose weight in the first place.

Such is the fear of ridicule, 35% choose to lose weight in secret so that if they fail no-one would know.

Aston spoke to Professor James Stubbs from University of Leeds, Dr Jacquie Lavin, special advisor science of weight management at Slimming World and Bev Howell from Thurrock.
