Dr. Zoe Williams giving tips on our summer health

As summer rolls in and our priorities shift, new research finds that two in five of us place greater emphasis on our appearance during this season compared to any other time of the year. Additionally, one in five individuals even prioritise their summertime looks above their overall health.

So let’s dive into the world of summer preparations! For half of us it’s about looking physically better and getting “summer ready”. Shedding those extra pounds is a priority for 48%, while 31% focus on internal body care. Perhaps surprisingly, beauty treatments take a backseat at a mere 18%.

What many might not know is that a healthy gut doesn’t just support general health, but it also contributes to how we look and feel. From more radiant looking skin, to being in a happier mood, and even sleeping better, the gut plays an important role in supporting many aspects of our health.

When we neglect a balanced diet, our bodies let us know. It’s no wonder that the figures from Activia show that a third of people (30%) feel fatigued during summer due not looking after their gut health. In fact, (33%) struggle to sleep well, 28% say they become easily irritable, and 25% find themselves drowning in stress.
