Dr Zoe Williams on protecting our homes during the winter

With the thermometer now often down to single digits and the battle to keep more heat in our homes, our windows will surely stay firmly shut for some time. But with windows being closed alongside many of our winter home habits, there leaves little room for household pollutants to escape.

Over half of us in the UK expect to attend up to 5 events at a household this winter, with a further 16% of us being true social butterflies and attending between 6 and 10 – and there is plenty to gather around for.

Protecting our nearest and dearest is paramount for so many of us especially as we all start to congregate for festive cheer, as well as cheering on all our favourite players and teams at the World Cup – Keeping our air clean while indoors has never been more vital.

New research from Philips Domestic Appliances, highlights that 59% of us are concerned about the health and wellbeing of ourselves, our friends, and our family as it pertains to indoor pollution, despite just under half of us (49%) being confident in identifying the primary causes.
