English Tourism Week 2023

Today marks the start of English Tourism Week 2023 which runs until 26 March. The week sees the industry come together to highlight tourism’s economic importance and to promote the innovation, quality and range of products and services on offer to boost domestic breaks.

Tourism is one of England’s largest and most valuable industries. Making up 80% of the UK visitor’s economy, it generated £76 billion in domestic visitor spending in 2019 – helping to support a total of 2.6 million jobs and an employer of young people, as well as providing opportunities for entrepreneurs and nurturing innovation.

With both the Coronation of King Charles III in May and Liverpool hosting the Eurovision Song Contest, on behalf of Ukraine, also in May, 2023 is already set to be a huge year for English tourism.

This year’s campaign, co-ordinated by VisitEngland, is using the strapline of ‘amazing’ to celebrate the amazing people, places, businesses, attractions, experiences and destinations that make up England’s tourism sector.

Aston spoke to Andrew Stokes, director at VisitEngland.
