F1 update – Bahrain GP
Round 4 of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship was held at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, Bahrain for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
For the first time this year there is a repeat winner as McLaren’s Oscar Piastri took his second win of the year heading home Mercedes driver George Russell who finished second (this is despite being investigated for a breach of DRS usage) whilst Piastri’s McLaren team mate Lando Norris finished third despite incurring a 5 second time penalty for being out of position on the grid at the start of the race.

- 1st: Oscar Piastri – McLaren
- 2nd: George Russell – Mercedes
- 3rd: Lando Norris – McLaren
- 4th: Charles Leclerc – Ferrari
- 5th: Sir Lewis Hamilton – Ferrari
Other highlights:
- Red Bull struggled for pace all weekend, but it didn’t stop Max Verstappen and his team mate Yuki Tsunoda finishing sixth and ninth respectively. The former also had 2 bad pitstops, the first one he was held when the light didn’t change to green after his first tyre change, whilst during the second pitstop the front right wheel was late coming off.
- Alpine scored their first points finish of the season thanks to Pierre Gasly putting in the drive of the weekend to finish seventh after starting fourth on the grid.
- Haas had both their drivers score points as their drivers Esteban Ocon and his team mate Oliver Bearman finished eight and tenth respectively.
- Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg would be disqualified from the race after finishing thirteenth for excessive plank wear.
- Williams’s Carlos Sainz would retire on lap 46 after sustaining damage on his sidepod during a collision on lap 31 with Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda which bought out the safety car.
- Alpine’s Jack Doohan was given a 5 second time penalty for abusing track limits.
- RB’s Liam Lawson was given a 5 second time penalty for colliding with Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll and then a further 10 second time penalty for colliding with Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg.
News:
- Red Bull have held a meeting following their woeful pace at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
- A return of using V10 engines for the first time since 2005 will not happen as F1 have rejected proposals.
- Deputy president of the FIA Robert Reid has left his posistion.
The next round of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship wild be held at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on 18th to 20th April.
