F1 update – Dutch GP
Formula 1 returned after the summer break for it’s fifteenth round of the 2025 World Championship at the legendary Zandvoort Circuit in Holland for the Dutch Grand Prix.
McLaren’s Oscar Piastri took his seventh win of the year heading of Red Bull’s home favourite Max Verstappen whilst Racing Bulls driver Isack Hadjar scored his maiden podium finish with third, it was also the teams first podium finish since 2021 when it was under the Alpha Tauri name.
Dutch GP – top 5:
- 1st: Oscar Piastri – McLaren
- 2nd: Max Verstappen – Red Bull
- 3rd: Isack Hadjar – Racing Bulls
- 4th: George Russell – Mercedes
- 5th: Alexander Albon – Williams
Other highlights:
- McLaren’s Lando Norris retired on lap 65 with an oil leak. However like Canada earlier this year he was classified as he completed 90% of the race distance.
- Ferrari had a day to forget as their Sir Lewis Hamilton retired on lap 23 after crashing out, whilst on lap 53 it saw Hamilton’s team mate Charles Leclerc retire after colliding with Mercedes driver Andrea ‘Kimi’ Antonelli. Antonelli received a 10 second time penalty for the incident with Leclerc.
- Mercedes driver Andrea ‘Kimi’ Antonelli after receiving a 10 second time penalty for colliding with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc also received a 5 second time penalty for speeding in the pitlane.
- Williams’s Carlos Sainz and Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson collided on lap 28 which resulted in punctures for both and a front wing damage for Sainz. The former was also given a 10 second time penalty for the incident.
- Haas’s Oliver Bearman scored his best result of his career in Formula 1 thus far with a sixth place finish despite starting from the pitlane.
News:
- Cadillac announced that Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez will race for the team in it’s debut year in 2026.
- McLaren were fined $5,000 for a pitlane incident during practice at the Dutch Grand Prix.
- Mercedes were fined $7,500 for a pitlane incident during practice at the Dutch Grand Prix.
- McLaren announced new title sponsor in Mastercard.
- Ferrari’s Sir Lewis Hamilton has received a 5 place grid penalty for the Italian Grand Prix for speeding under yellow flag conditions on the reconnaissance lap.
The next round of 2025 Formula 1 World Championship will be held at the legendary Monza Autodrome Circuit in Milan, Italy for the Italian Grand Prix.
