F1 update – Emila Romanga GP, Monaco GP & Spanish GP
Round 7 of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship took place at the Autodromo Dino Ferrari Circuit in Imola, Italy for the Emilia Romanga Grand Prix.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen took his second victory of the year heading home the McLaren’s of Lando Norris who finished second with Norris’s team mate Oscar Piastri finishing third.
Emilia Romanga GP – top 5:
- 1st: Max Verstappen – Red Bull
- 2nd: Lando Norris – McLaren
- 3rd: Oscar Piastri – McLaren
- 4th: Sir Lewis Hamilton – Ferrari
- 5th: Alexander Albon – Williams
Race Highlights:
- Haas’s Esteban Ocon would retire from the race on lap 28 due to an engine failure. Ocon’s retirement put the race under a virtual safety car.
- Mercedes driver Andrea ‘Kimi’ Antonelli would retire from the race on lap 45 with throttle problems. Antonelli’s retirement bought out the safety car.
Round 8 of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship was held on the streets of Monte Carlo, Monaco for the Monaco Grand Prix.
This race saw all drivers having to make 2 mandatory pitstops and it saw McLaren’s Lando Norris take his second win of the year heading home the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc who finished second with Norris’s McLaren team mate Oscar Piastri finishing third.
Monaco GP – top 5:
- 1st: Lando Norris – McLaren
- 2nd: Charles Leclerc – Ferrari
- 3rd: Oscar Piastri – McLaren
- 4th: Max Verstappen – Red Bull
- 5th: Sir Lewis Hamilton – Ferrari
Race highlights:
- Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto crashed at Portier on the opening lap, but was able to keep going, however his crash put the race under a virtual safety car.
- Alpine’s Pierre Gasly would retire from the race on lap 8 after crashing into the back of Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda.
- Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso would retire from the race on lap 37 with an engine failure.
- Mercedes’s George Russell was given a drive through penalty for overtaking the Williams of Alexander Albon off the track.
Round 9 of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship was held at the Circuit De Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain for the Spanish Grand Prix.
McLaren’s Oscar Piastri led from lights to flag to claim his fifth victory of the year finishing ahead of his team mate Lando Norris who finished second with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc completing the podium in third.

- 1st: Oscar Piastri – McLaren
- 2nd: Lando Norris – McLaren
- 3rd: Charles Leclerc – Ferrari
- 4th: George Russell – Mercedes
- 5th: Nico Hulkenberg – Sauber
Race highlights:
- Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll would sadly not take part in the race due to an injury to his wrist and hand.
- Williams’s Alexander Albon would retire from the race on lap 28 after colliding with Racing Bull’s driver Liam Lawson, the former has a grid penalty for the next race.
- Mercedes’s Andrea ‘Kimi’ Antonelli would retire from the race on lap 54 with oil pressure problems, this bought out the safety car.
- Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was given a 10 second time penalty for colliding with Mercedes George Russell on lap 64 which dropped him from fifth to tenth in the final classification. Verstappen is now 1 point away from an automatic race.
- Haas’s Oliver Bearman was given a 10 second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage dropping him from thirteenth to seventeenth in the final classification.

- F1 Netflix series ‘Drive To Survive’ bag an Emmy Award at the Sports Emmy Awards that was held in May.
The next round of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship will be held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada for the Canadian Grand Prix on 13th to 15th June.
