F1 update – Japanese GP
Round 3 of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship was held at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan for the Japanese Grand Prix.
Reigning world champion Red Bull’s Max Verstappen took victory for a fourth straight year in Japan fending off the McLaren’s of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri who finished second and third respectively.
Japanese GP – top 5:
- 1st: Max Verstappen – Red Bull
- 2nd: Lando Norris – McLaren
- 3rd: Oscar Piastri – McLaren
- 4th: Charles Leclerc – Ferrari
- 5th: George Russell – Mercedes
Other highlights:
- Mercedes driver Andrea ‘Kimi’ Antonelli became the youngest driver in Formula 1 history to lead a lap and also became the youngest driver in Formula 1 history to score a fastest lap.
- RB’s Isack Hadjar would score his first points in Formula 1 with an eighth place finish.
News:
- Red Bull announced going into the Japanese Grand Prix that Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson would swap seats with Tsunoda moving to Red Bull and Liam Lawson moving to Racing Bulls.
- Haas announced the signing of Japanese driver Ryo Hirakawa as their reserve driver.
The next round of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship will be held at the Bahrain International Circuit in Bahrain for the Bahrain Grand Prix on 11th to 13th April.
