F1 update – Las Vegas GP
Round 22 of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship was held on the Las Vegas Street Circuit in Las Vegas, Nevada for the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen clinched his sixth win of the year heading home the Mercedes pair of George Russell and Andrea ‘Kimi’ Antonelli who finished second and third respectively the latter did recieve a 5 second time penalty for jumping the start.
Las Vegas GP – top 5:
- 1st: Max Verstappen – Red Bull
- 2nd: George Russell – Mercedes
- 3rd: Andrea ‘Kimi’ Antonelli – Mercedes
- 4th: Charles Leclerc – Ferrari
- 5th: Carlos Sainz – Williams
Other highlights:
- Both McLaren’s of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were disqualified post race for excessive plank wear after crossing the line in second and fith respectively.
- Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto and Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll collided on the opening lap which saw Stroll retire from the race on the spot whilst Bortoleto would retire on lap 3 which too much damage to his car, however Bortoleto will drop 5 places from where qualifies for the next race for causing the collision with Stroll.
- Williams’s Alexander Albon would retire from the race on lap 36 due to damage to his car after colliding with Ferrari’s Sir Lewis Hamitlon earlier in the race. Albon recieved a 5 second time penalty which he would serve for the incident.

- Former Haas Formula 1 driver Mick Schumacher will be racing in Indycar in 2026 driving for Rahal Letterman Lannigan Racing.
- Pirelli have announced that they would supply 5 tyre compounds for the 2026 F1 season.
- Alpine were fined $5,000 for a tyre breach on Franco Colapinto’s car.
- French driver Doriane Pin clinched the F1 Academy title in Las Vegas.
- Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has sold 15% of his shares with the team to George Kurtz, CEO of Crowdstrike.
The next round of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship will be held at the Lusail International Circuit in Doha, Qatar for the Qatar Grand Prix from 28th to 30th November.
