F1 update – Saudi Arabian GP

The second round of this years Formula 1 World Championship took the teams and drivers to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Red Bull continued their dominant start to the season by scoring their second straight 1 – 2 finish with Sergio Perez taking victory ahead of teammate Max Verstappen with the latter starting 15th on the grid after a driveshaft failure in qualifying, 3rd went to Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso despite post race confusion.

Saudi Arabian GP top 5

  • 1st: Sergio Perez – Red Bull
  • 2nd: Max Verstappen – Red Bull
  • 3rd: Fernando Alonso – Aston Martinnn
  • 4th: George Russell – Mercedes
  • 5th: Lewis Hamilton – Mercedes

Other highlights:

  • Ferrari didn’t have the best of races as Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc finished 6th and 7th respectively.
  • Alpine enjoyed a double points finish as Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly finished 8th and 9th respectively.
  • Haas scored their first points of the year with Kevin Magnussen claiming the final points paying position after a battle with Alpha Tauri’s Yuki Tsunoda.
  • Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll would retire on lap 17 with engine problems whislt William’s Alex Albon would retire on lap 28 with brake failure.

The next round of the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship will take place at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne, Australia on 31st March to 2nd April.
