F1 update – Singapore GP
Round 18 of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship was held at the Marina Bay circuit in Singapore for the Singapore Grand Prix.
Mercedes driver George Russell dominated the race by clinching his second victory of the year heading Red Bull’s Max Verstappen who finished second with McLaren’s Lando Norris despite a knock to his front wing completing the podium in third.
Singapore GP – top 5:
- 1st: George Russell – Mercedes
- 2nd: Max Verstappen – Red Bull
- 3rd: Lando Norris – McLaren
- 4th: Oscar Piastri – McLaren
- 5th: Andrea ‘Kimi’ Antonelli – Mercedes
Other highlights:
- Ferrari’s Sir Lewis Hamilton was given a 5 second post race time penalty for abusing track limits despite having hardly any brakes on his car, this meant he dropped from seventh to eighth behind Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso in the final classification.
- Both Williams drivers Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz were disqualified from qualifying after their cars failed a post qualifying DRS check. They did finish the race in tenth (Sainz) and fourteenth (Albon).
- Haas’s Oliver Bearman finished in ninth and was also the last car that was on the lead lap at the finish.
- Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg spun out on lap 44 at Memorial Corner which is off Raffles Boulevard. He was able to keep going and finish last (20th).

- Former Ferrari team boss and engineer Claudio Lombardi sadly passed away at the age of 83.
- Former journalist Virginie Philippot has announced her intention to stand as a candidate to run for presidency of the F.I.A joining current president Mohammed Ben Sulayem, Tim Mayer and Laura Villars in doing so.
- At heat weather warning was issued for the Singapore Grand Prix weekend.
- 2016 Indycar champion and 2019 Indy 500 winner Simon Pagenaud has joined Cadillac as one of it’s simulator driver along with former Haas driver Pietro Fittipaldi and sportscar driver Charlie Eastwood.
- Ferrari’s Sir Lewis Hamilton’s pet dog Roscoe has sadly passed away.
- Former Miami Grand Prix president Tyler Epp will join Cadillac as it’s global head of commercial strategy.
- Former Haas, Renault and Lotus F1 driver Romain Grosjean drove an F1 car in a private test for the first time in 5 years since his horrifying crash at Bahrain Grand Prix in 2020.
The next round of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship will be held at the Circuit Of The America’s in Austin, Texas for the United States Grand Prix on 17th to 19th October.
